immediate intercession requested

so we just found out that the county, for some unknown reason, has closed out our son, zaavan's, medical assistance. this is a HUGE deal as it was this assistance that paid for all of his anti-seizure medication as well as his food. he is tube fed and doesn't eat by mouth, but he is also on a specialized diet (the ketogenic diet) that requires specialized food for him. as of right now, he is no longer able to get ANY of these things. we only have about a week's supply of both food and meds left. please, please, please pray for us that this would get straightened out and SOON! thanks gang...

Sigh. Bloody bureaucracy.

Praying, Jonno.

I'm on it, Jon. That's incredibly awful. Did they offer any explanation at all? Could it be some kind of mistake?

On it sweetheart, won't let it go.

What state, county, etc.. are you in, I want to call and write letters. I will pray too, but I am willing to shame these people into action if necessary.

I want to say something else -- being what time of year it is I would go to the papers is this is not handled positively within the next 24 hours.

The press loves to stick it to the government and this is a no brainer as far as how the public will react.

Jon, this happened to another of my Minnesota friends a few years ago...thier son had an aneurism and almost died, then he basically had to start everything over - eating, walking, talking, everything...but the process is so slow. I can see what they did, because I know that they got it recovered...I don't know how long it took...they lived up around Crystal somewhere...have no idea what county that is, but if this is an ongoing problem, then obviously something needs to be done! Praying for you...and for Zaavan.

THERE MUST BE SOME MISTAKE!!!

Your son needs these things ...

I know that you will track down everyone you can to get this sorted out.

Praying for intelligent kindhearted and wise people to be at the other end of the phones.

Thank you Lord for protecting Zaavan!

well it's nice to know you're all ready to back me up in whatever way possible. :-) i don't really know what that is just yet. give us a couple of days to find out what we're really going to need.

oh, and tyler... damn, girl. you came up swinging! i need to remember to bring you with me in case i ever get into a fight. :-)

it is 10:28 AM my time and i have just woken up. my brain's not really firing right now. according to my wife, she spoke with the worker this morning and he is "entering the information into the computer." i don't know what this means. does that mean zaavan's all good and it's just a day or so for processing? does that mean that he's entering in our information and our family as a whole still has to meet certain guidelines for zaavan to qualify? (which would be a new thing) and perhaps we won't find out until we get a rejection letter in a few weeks? i called him a couple of minutes ago with these questions, but of course i had to leave a voice mail. i hope to hear back from him about this within the day. if not, we will be contacting the supervisor to get this straightened out.

step by step. one thing at a time. i wouldn't really create a media-frenzy unless it was a last resort... because, damn. it wouldn't be pretty for them, let me tell you.

"why our government wants this young, disabled boy to starve... more at 10."

i just got off the phone with our case worker and he said that he should have zaavan's benefits reinstated by the end of the day. according to him it was an oversight on his part not to keep zaavan separate from the rest of the family when reviewing our eligibility for coverage.

we'll see if things actually get straightened out or not by tomorrow. thank you all for your prayers and support up to this point. if zaavan is reinstated by tomorrow we will not need any sort of additional support.

i asked for prayer so quickly and emphatically because we have had to wait upwards of 2 to 3 months for things to get "straightened out" before. and obviously zaavan's food and meds are something that can't wait that long.

thanks for the love. i'll give an update tomorrow as soon as we find out if it's fixed or not.

i am in no way doubtful that your prayers helped this to move quickly. it has taken him 2 to 3 weeks to return phone calls before. he has called us twice so far today. once again, we are grateful and we love all of you.

PRAISE GOD!!! Thank you Abba I am crying so hard.

I am extremely thankful your caseworker seems to be on this for you, and that it was simply a mistake. Please keep us posted on how things are going.

as of right now, zaavan's benefits seem to be back online. erin(mrs.peres) called me when i was out at the store and had me pick up his meds. they were approved!

so, for right now, the crisis seems to be averted. it still remains to be seen if this has had any farther reaching aftershocks, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

the fact that we got a call from his case worker 3 times in a single day, and that he worked on getting it taken care of all day, as well as all of the responses from folks aruond the world, i cannot help but think there was something divine behind all of this.

thank you all for your willingness to stand with us in whatever capacity you felt lead in your hearts. may you each find yourself blessed accordingly.

Sorry Jon, I've only just read this post so I'm a bit late to help! Glad to hear Zaavan's benefits have been sorted out though.
