My husband just got fired

I really didn't see this coming. But he got fired this afternoon. Please pray for us i don't know what we are going to do.

Update: Sunday morning

Okay so yesterday we get a phone call from somebody who works there. Mark's firing WAS THE BEST THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED to that place. Finally, years of putting up with good people being terminated for no reason has gotten to be too much and people are angry and there are the beginnings of a riot going on. His boss had a meeting with the mechanics and their words were, "What did we do that was so awful that you fired our boss?" Well, I don't know about you, but there aren't many people I know who would say that. I haven't ever had a boss I was willing to say that about/ in defense of. The other supervisors now know that they aren't safe because they looked up to him in a big way for doing the right thing and never giving in to the bullying. The people on the floor are furious because Mark always supports them in their jobs (he even helps the linemen with placing product back on the lines as he is evaluating the lines).

On friday morning Abba said to me, "This is not over." He said it over and over again and I did not understand.

It doesn't mean Mark's boss gets fired and Mark gets rehired but Abba is right, this is NOT over. The person who called was devastated about it on thursday but now feels that it is the single best thing God could have allowed to happen.

Yesterday God reminded Mark that He always gets the bills paid and that things were going according to plan and suddenly I am super excited to see how this turns out.

Love to you all!

OH NO! I am so sorry to hear this. Dang. I don't mean to be nosy - but was he fired or laid off? I only ask because hopefully there is some severance pay involved....

Will pray for you guys. :(

No, not laid off. Mark was the engineering manager for a large cookie dough manufacturer (they also make the bread dough for subway) and they had equipment that was never designed for what it was doing. The manufacturers said it would never do it even, and still production was lying about what they were making it do in the off hours (working it beyond specs and breaking it routinely). They told him to make it work or be fired and he did manage to make it work a lot bette, so much better that the only down time was due to supply issues and Quality problems, but it was not, as they demanded, 100% so they fired him. They are in the process of doing the same thing to his counterpart in South Carolina.

That is NOT FAIR! Not that that helps you guys any...it just sucks. I am sorry. Maybe this is a good opportunity for him to find something without the slimy bosses demanding unrealistic and unsafe practices...without the pressure. Will think positive!

prayers are coming your way. i'm so sorry. it's so hard to have to deal with things like this. are quality jobs scarce in your neck of the woods?

Tyler Dawn said...

Quality jobs are relative -- he is a chemical engineer with 20 years of exp in the food industry, which narrows things down to only a few options and probably none in this town. If he was a teacher, or a medical professional or a civil servant it would be fine, but he isn't. God has to make something happen, at this point.

Oh and thanks everyone, I don't want to sound so down. Guess I am just still reeling from the TIA last week. Hard to think straight.

I'm so sorry...will be praying and trusting God to open up a way. Will you all be okay in the meantime, financially?

Sara said...

Oh, yoinks. I'm sorry Tyler. Does he have a masters or Ph.D. in Engineering, or just a BSci.?

Valorosa said...

Can he apply for teacher's college? Would he want to do that?

Tyler Dawn said...

Manu, we will be fine for some time.

Sara, he has a BS, which actually makes it easier for him to find a job.

Val, he is definitely no teacher lol, and at his age it would be hard to start over again

But I have to say that i woke up with tremendous peace this morning and we had a wonderful day together and it was like the weight of the world was gone from our shoulders. Mark's work was/is so spiritually oppressive, the boss is a master manipulator and bully. Believe me, we never would have gone there without the Lord's leading.

Tyler I am late in the conversation but just wanted to ad that I am praying that the peace you have felt will continue. The whole thing is so unfair so I also pray for justice

Well there is something up and the Lord will let you know what it is ... just keep checkin' in ...
Sounds like an emancipation party is in order after working for that kind of employer ...

Thanks for your continued prayers, I have updated in the original post

Oooh, now this is an interesting twist in the tale :)

still praying for you guys. hopefully as time moves on, whatever the outcome or new chapter in life that comes about, you can take this time to enjoy the extra family time together without work responsibilities hanging over your heads. if only for a short while...

Tyler, we're praying. And I don't know if connections are or could be any help, but
1. my brother and sister-in-law are both chemical engineers and
2. Rob and I live in a town with an industry that hires a lot of engineers of a lot of stripes, and in which there are a number of people who very much value integrity in business.

If there's any way that we can be the hands and feet of Jesus for you, give us the privilige getting to put our grubby little mitts into the middle of whatever God's doing. :)

wow - that IS an interesting twist... keep us posted, and we'll keep praying. :) and in the meantime, i really do hope you guys are able to enjoy a little bit of down-time as a family. peace be with you.

Good Sunday morning news TD :-)

9 years ago we were owners of a small business...which was taken from us by our so-called partners as soon as it turned a profit (long story, I won't bore you). It was a crisis time, it all happened so fast and was so wrong...we had lost so much and stood to lose more...but all through it God kept telling me it wasn't over until he SAID it was over.

It took 6 months, but we did eventually get resolutions in our favor and then some...we didn't get the business back...but what we did get was better. And He had our back the whole way...I can't even tell you.

I'm praying for you that God will cover you, financially and otherwise, that he will iron out the details for the future, and that whatever he has going on will bless you guys in a big way in the end. God is good.
