Where I am (East Portland) things are ok, but around the region there are many areas having severe flooding. There is a town NW of Portland called Vernonia that still recovering from devastating floods last year where many people lost their homes, and they are facing it again. And I do think western Washington State is worse because they had more snow.

I know Mike is also buried under several feet of snow, but I don't know if they have had any real thawing yet. How ya doing up there, Mike?

Thanks for asking, Kari.

Well, glad you asked. It has warmed up into the upper 30's and has been raining for the last two days. There is no "real" flooding here but I dare say "yet". If the weather continues as is, we may be in for a harsh ride. We already have had nearly as much snow as last year only we got it in one month and if the thaw doesn't slow down, it's gonna get ugly.

There have already been some avalanches in the west part of the county here.

Oh yeah ~ did I mention that I am glad my roof is pitched damn near like an A-Frame?

There is a Fred Meyers here that partially collapsed because no one thought to shovel the roof. Easy mistake, except the same Fred Meyers partially collapsed in 2004 for the same reason, LOL.

There are a number of people around here who had carports and such fall down under the snow...and one other interesting problem is the houseboat community, because they usually have flat roofs. A few actually sank under the weight.
