songs you're still sick of

maybe you haven't heard it in 5, 10 or even 20 years, but after the first few notes you know without a doubt... it hasn't been long enough. i thought this would be fun, and after the past few months, i think we all could use a little fun. :-)

i'll get us started.

That is evil, not even sure i can compete with that, and I'm not going to steal Honey and I've never been to me from the people who I know are going to post them. That is frikken insipid!

I love Black Hole Sun. I hate Never Been to Me :)

I am still really really sick of Goonies 'R Good Enough.

There's about 400 more.

Rock Me Ammadeus

Sara said...

when I was ten, it didn't phase me that that was at the top of the charts for 3 months . . . it makes less and less sense with each year.

Sue said...

Ooh, yeah, Sara, that one sucks.

It also reminds me of one other I'm sick of - Der Kommissar. What a stupid song, whether sung in German or English

hahaha! this is good stuff so far. i was hoping for some golden gems like these. these songs, to me, don't necessarily have to be bad songs. just songs you've heard way too many times. that can include bad songs, or songs that you once loved dearly, maybe still do, you've just heard them too many times.

You know me, Jon...I didn't listen to secular music enough during this phase to be sick of any of it...but I do love to hate that song.

Sue! Gasp! What's wrong with Goonies? And I've Never Been to Me? And Rock Me Amadeaus! What is WRONG with you people?

I submit for your enjoymentPONY. You really have to watch the video to get the full effect of how bad that song is. And hopefully some of you have seen Wild Hogs and it will bring up some unpleasant visions.

I love Amadeus and Goonies, sheesh....

but here is one you probably never heard of Fooled You, Didn't I

Erin said...

You are SUCH a riot, Tyler.

ERIN!!! That DOES bring back some memories of a CRAZY roommate of mine!! I'm laughing!!!

I was trying to post "I think we're alone now," by Tiffany...but my computer skills are lacking!

Jeannette Altes said...

We'll see if we can make this work. It might date me. And jON? I hadn't even thought of this group for 20 years... until you told me to think. *shaking head* The power of suggestion....

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night

(Hope I remembered how to make the link work...)

Tiffany . . . oh cringe

must find something . . . anything to drive out of my head . . .

Oh, no! Horrible conundrum! Which is worse? Tiffany or the soundtrack from my kids' VBS program this summer? The first time I heard it was one too many--

I think I'll go listen to some Big Country

So, Kari, I think you were after this...

And I submit for all of you a tie. I couldn't decide between Kokomo or Take My Breath Away.

Posting both of those made me throw up in my mouth a little...

Mike said...

99 LuftBalloons ~ Yep...hated it then, still makes me gag even now!!

Barry said...

I'm pretty certain THIS qualifies.

Erin said...

I hate to admit but I still love Kokomo and Take my Breath Away...Tiffany and Nena I can do without.

OK Barry, what the HELL is that?

Anonymous said...

definitely this one.

Erin said...

Ohhh GAWD! That was so ridiculous, and I totally worshiped it! My friends and I learned all the choreography.

Sara said...

oh, jON . . . definitely qualifies:

haven't heard it in 5, 10 or even 20 years, but after the first few notes you know without a doubt... it hasn't been long enough

Tiny Tim

At the end of this video you will see the very young Goldie Hawn.

Erin said...

That's insanely frightening, Val. I'm gonna have nightmares. ;-)

Ruth said...

Oh my gosh Katherine - if you're dated then I am too. SATURDAY NIGHT was the first one I thought of too. Of course I loved them at the time. I even had the jeans with the plaid hem.

How about Da Doo Ron Ron? It was the first record - 45 - that I bought and the first concert I ever went to. I have to confess, I still think he's dreamy.

Valorosa said...

LOL

Tiny Tim or Goldie Hawn, Erin?

Erin said...

Both. But Tim in particular.

Ruth - WOW. I had so totally forgot about him. Dude.

Heather said...

Mine's a tie between this and this (loved the movie, but that is five minutes of pure pain).

Sue said...

Eww, Heather. I only saw the titles to those two songs and quickly clicked them off before they could start :)

Erin said...

I watched Titanic all the way through the other day. I don't want to hear that again.

As for the other...ewww...

Ché said...

You know, it's when topics like this come up, that I realized I must have been abducted by aliens....or the church...in the '90's. I have heard these...but not alot.
My stomach revolts at much of comtemporary christian rock of that era...
Though..after some thought...I came up with one of the songs I have do remember..and shudder...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMPzyN1_o4I

Ché said...

oops..lets try that again...

nope...I give up. I don't know how to create the link to the song...

Anyways, it's Like a Virgin by Madonnna.

Gag....

Jeannette Altes said...

LOL! Ruth, I almost put that one up, too.

Manuela said...

I honestly want to participate but I can't think of one, and I know there have been so many...Maybe I've successfully blocked them from consciousness!! : )
but no thanks to you for some dreadful reminders...
ok, I just thought of one My name is Luca
and
I believe I can fly
oh, no, they're coming back, make it stop!

Wind beneath my wings...

you all suck. I hope I can sleep
lol

Erin said...

I loved Luka, but you are so right they overplayed it like crazy!

Anonymous said...

how's about another?

Barry said...

Sorry - life has been happenign and preventing me from replying!

Erin, the song I posted was quite popular over here in Europe a few years back. It makes me cringe - not least because I know the words! (It's sung in Romanian by a Moldovan group.)

Barry said...

This one definitely qualifies as well. What makes it worse is that my wife loves it - she's singing it now as I type!

Barry said...

Here's yet another one my wife likes!

Not forgetting, of course, the ultimate in crap songs!

Sue said...

Wow, thanks everyone for making me sick :)

Manuela said...

Thanks to this post, annoying songs just keep interrupting my life

Kokomo....
good grief

...you spin me right round baby.., or was it Jesus, Heather?!

The banana and pineapple song left my husband and I speechless for an uncomfortable minute, before we lost it...was it for real?... my four year old really liked it though, so there you go

Manuela said...

My husband would like to submit
The safety dance, by Men without Hats
(the one with the little people video?!)

and
Come on Eileen

...sorry I see Kokomo was already submitted...going to bed

Nate said...

Jon, nobody puts baby in a corner. You posted the wrong song. This is the one you wanted from Dirty Dancing.

Heather, I have to admit that I saw Billy Ray live when I was in junior high!!!!
